History

Founded, national bodies grouping Catholic employers having been formed in the Netherlands, 1915, and in Belgium and France, 1925-1926.

Subsequently became ecumenical.

Statutes adopted 25 Jul 1959. Statutes modified: 30 May 1963; 16 Dec 1971; 12 Sep 1974; 10 Aug 1978. New statutes adopted Dec 1994. Current statutes adopted Oct 2004.

Aims

Study, maintain and propagate the principles and applications of Christian social teaching in economic and social life, in the context both of individual business corporations and of national and international economies; act as a link among associations of Christian employers having the same aims; promote such organizations in countries where they do not exist; work with other international associations to achieve these aims.

General Assembly (annual). Board of 20-25 members, including representatives of each regional association, plus up to 8 co-opted members. Past Presidents, Secretary-General and the organization's Spiritual Advisers participate in Board meetings. Executive Committee, consisting of President assisted by Vice-Presidents representing regional organizations (4): Europe; Latin America; Africa; Asia. Bureau, comprising President; Honorary President, Past President, Presidents of Programme and Finance Committees, Secretary-General, Executive Secretary and 2 members. Secretariat. Secretariat-General for Latin America.
