History
Established on entering into force of IEMO Establishment Convention, endowed with juridical personality of international law. Convention registered 1 Jun 2006 with the United Nations Secretariat at No 42766 of the United Nations Treat Series (UNTS), published in Volume 2371 (2006) page 5, on the Statement of Treaties and International Agreement registered or filed and recorded with the Secretariat of the United Nations No ST/LEG/SER A-712 of Jun 2006, and on the United Nations Cumulative Index No 44 of the Treaties and International Agreement registered or filed and recorded with the Secretariat of the United Nations (Volumes 2351 to 2400) - (1) Treaties Nos 42198 to 43348 (Registered), and (2) Treaties Nos 1285 to 1298 (Filed and Recorded), page 265. Statutes established as Additional Protocol to the aforesaid Convention, settle the relevant functioning of the IEMO Organization and the rules of procedure and categories of membership.
Aims
Work for emergency prevention, preparedness, mitigation and recovery, with special focus on humanitarian aid for underprivileged emergencies and prevention of complex emergencies; network and represent on the topic of emergency prevention the various national emergency management organizations (NEMOs) and national emergency management agencies (NEMAs) providing them with emergency skills as the Integrated Emergency Prevention System (IEPS) as well as counter-emergencies studies and resources.
