History
Set up under the auspices of B-XB2420 - International Road Transport Union (IRU), and at the request of the Inland Transport Committee of E-XE4176 - United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
Statutes adopted 1979. Third revised version of statutes approved by Assembly of Delegates 17 Sep 1994, entered into force 1 Jan 1995. Current version incorporates changed made up to 31 Dec 2004.
Aims
Take all suitable measures to develop international road transport of refrigerated, frozen or deep-frozen products; study problems relating to development of transport of temperature-controlled foodstuffs and goods in solid or liquid form; contribute to preserving wholesomeness and other characteristics of such perishable goods; improve the logistics of the cold chain, from production to distribution; encourage technical progress; participate in improving security of transportation by road; minimize pollution caused by transport; promote coordination and exchange of experience among national member groups and enterprises; maintain and develop professionalism and increase profitability, productivity and quality of benefits and services.
