Constitution adopted 1986.

Ceased to exist, 7 Sep 1999, when merged with H-XB2807 - International Water Services Association (IWSA), to form C-XC0103 - International Water Association (IWA).

Aims

Advance the science and practice of water pollution control and water quality management worldwide, including: sources, causes and effects of pollution; collection and treatment of municipal and industrial wastewaters; management techniques. Expand amd disseminate scientific and technical knowledge relating to water quality and promote water pollution research and water quality protection. Promote practical application of research and experience in: engineering design, construction, operation and control; management of wastewater collection systems and purification and reclamation plants; river, lake, estuary and coastal water quality management problems.

Structure

Biennial Conference. Governing Board, consisting of National Members' representatives. Executive Committee (meets at least annually), consisting of President, 2 Vice Presidents, Executive Director, Honorary Treasurer, President of next biennial conference, Past President and several co-opted members. Secretariat, headed by Executive Director. Specialist Groups (each member may belong to up to 5). E-XE4054 - Joint Committee of IAHR and IAW on Urban Drainage (JCUD) set up 1982.
