History
Founded uniting the American Federation - the first Soroptimist Club having been established in 1921, Oakland CA (USA) - with the European Federation, which had developed from the first Soroptimist club in Europe, the Greater London (UK) Club, set up 1923; each Federation was self-governed and self-supporting. In 1934, the Federation of Soroptimist Clubs of Great Britain and Ireland was formed as a third Federation, separate from the European. The Association functioned through a Liaison Secretary until 1952 when International Officers and a Governing body were elected. In 1978, the SI/South West Pacific was formed as a fourth Federation. Soroptimist International Africa Federation (SIAF) was inaugurated 30 June 2020.
