Carry out and disseminate evaluations of the risk to human health and the environment from exposure to chemicals and mixtures or combinations of chemicals; promote development, improvement, validation and use of methods for environmental risks and hazards evaluation; promote technical cooperation with WHO Member States, in particular developing countries to facilitate the use of available health and environmental risk (hazard) evaluations, improve capabilities of national authorities in conducting their own assessments when necessary and strengthen infrastructures for safety aspects relating to chemicals - their production, importation, transportation, storage, use and disposal; develop alert and response mechanisms and promote effective international cooperation with respect to emergencies and accidents involving chemicals; support national programmes for prevention and treatment of poisonings, including establishment of poison centres; promote training of required manpower.
