1974

History

Interests extended, 1976, to include synthetic organic pigments. Merged, 1982, with Dyes Environmental and Toxicology Organization (DETO), USA; in USA, only dyestuff interests are represented as those of pigment manufacturers are already covered by Color Pigments Manufacturers Association (CPMA). By-laws amended: 6 May 1993; 21 May 1997; 13 May 2004; 19 May 2006; 27 May 2011.

Aims

Coordinate efforts of manufacturers to minimize possible impact of synthetic organic colourants on health and environment in the most economic fashion without reducing protection of health and environment; encourage harmonization of health and environmental regulations in key geographical areas; represent the position and interests of members towards authorities, public institutions and media; promote responsible environmental and health risk management during manufacture, transport, use and disposal; enhance recognition of the commitment of members to responsible behaviour; provide customers with advice and information to enable the safe use and application of dyes for the manufacture of many different products.
