History
Founded as a conference for the diocesan bishops of the F-XF5079 - Anglican Communion; convened at the personal invitation of the Archbishop of Canterbury. After the Lambeth Conference of 1958, a full-time officer, who became known as the Anglican Executive Officer, was appointed 'to collect and disseminate information, keep open lines of communication, and make contact when necessary with responsible authority'. The next Lambeth Conference in 1968 set up E-XD5454 - Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) which, with the consent of all the Provinces (or member Churches), came into being at the end of 1969 and whose members attend the Lambeth Conference. The appointment of Secretary General of the Council replaced that of Anglican Executive Officer. F-XF5110 - Primates Meeting of the Anglican Communion was proposed at the 1978 Lambeth Conference and first met in 1979.
