16 Jul 1868, Bayonne (France), by Mother Mary Veronica of the Passion, Sophie Leeves. Aggregated to R-XR2049 - Discalced Carmelite Nuns. Established in India 19 Nov 1870. Pontifical approval of Constitution in 1949. Also known as Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel -- Soeurs du Carmel Apostolique -- Suore del Carmelo Apostolico.
Aims
Attain a deep experience of God through prayer and committed service in the development of youth, specially girls, through an all-round education based on spiritual human, social, national and aesthetic values in order to enable them to be leaders in the transformation of society with a special concern for the poor and disadvantaged of society.
