History

Founded by Eduardo Torroja, on taking over the activities of International Committee for Shell Structures (ICSS), previously set up in Oslo (Norway).

Aims

Advance development of technology of construction of shells or three dimensional continuous or discontinuous structures, whose thickness is small compared to their other two dimensions, and in which the forces acting in the middle plane are fundamental; achieve further progress through interchange of ideas among all interested in lightweight structural systems such as lattice, tension, membrane and shell structures.
