History

Founded at 2nd International Congress on Cattle Diseases, preliminary meeting having been held 6-10 Oct 1960, Hannover (Germany FR).

Statutes amended 6-10 July 1998, Sydney (Australia). New statutes adopted, July 2008, Budapest (Hungary).

Aims

Propagate scientific and practical knowledge of the diseases, management and production of both dairy and beef cattle; improve competitiveness of the bovine practitioner by contributing to a high standard of basic veterinary education in all aspects of bovine medicine and production and ensuring continuous retraining; promote such practitioners as essential partners for animal health and welfare, optimal and profitable production and consumer safety; anticipate and adapt speedily to changes in consumer requirements and available production techniques.
