History

Founded at 15th World Conference of ICDE, as a self-managed programme of D-XD0169 - Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE). Became, Oct 1993, an independent distance education network.

Aims

Promote exchange of human resources through the development of a technical assistance roster (database) among members; foster inter-institutional cooperation among the Americas; identify, update and catalogue existing resources; develop new distance education projects; have member institutions analyse their human, financial and technical resources, and finished distance education materials; maximize resources; promote the use of a common satellite for educational purposes throughout the hemisphere.
