History
Founded as a direct outcome of the Pan-Asia Congress of Evangelism, 1968, Singapore (Singapore). Initial intention was to serve as a coordinating agency for evangelical theological education in Asia. In 1977, began offering accreditation services to evangelical theological institutions in Asia. Asia Graduate School of Theology established as the research and education arm of the association in 1983.
Aims
Promote and support evangelical theological education in Asia and Asian communities worldwide; facilitate quality theological education through accreditation by establishing standards and developing criteria and instruments for the evaluation of programmes at various levels for the sake of quality assurance and excellence; encourage the sharing of resources; promote evangelical theological scholarship that is relevant to the Asian context; encourage writing and publication of contextual theological literature and text books.
