1991, by people teaching and studying in North America concerned with violations of academic freedoms in African universities.
Aims
Inform colleagues about the current situation on African campuses; set up an urgent action network to respond promptly to emergency situation; mobilize union and other academic organizations to put pressure on African academic authorities as well as international agencies; organize delegations that will make direct contact with teachers and students and their organizations in Africa.
