Founded

1964

History

Founded by B-XB2183 - ILO in collaboration with the Italian Government, as a training arm of the ILO. The Centre has matured from the technical and vocational institute of its early days into a focal point for advanced in-service training and post-experience specialization.

Aims

Through training and learning, develop human resources and institutional capacity in pursuit of ILO's primary goal of decent work men and women, focusing 4 strategic objectives: fundamental principles and rights at work, employment, social protection and social dialogue; contribute to strengthening the capacity of countries, organizations and individuals to manage development processes and interventions; design and deliver training programmes using the latest training technologies.

Governed by a tripartite Board, chaired by Director-General of ILO, composed of representatives of governments, employers and workers, including 24 members appointed by ILO Governing Body from among its own membership and representatives of the: A-XA3375 - United Nations (UN); E-XE3382 - UNDP; B-XB3383 - UNESCO; B-XE3386 - UNIDO; Italian Government; City of Turin; Piedmont Region; 'Unione Industriale di Turin'.
