1975, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). Was awarded, Nov 1993, an international medal by UNESCO on the occasion of 400th anniversary of the birth of Jan Amos Comenius.

Aims

Coordinate, integrate and whenever possible unify the efforts of member states in the fields of education, culture and science; reinforce unity among the Gulf peoples; establish a system of education on firm scientific basis with clearly stated goals; create joint educational centres and institutions; improve the Arab Islamic image of the region and strengthen cultural ties and links.
