History

Founded on the initiative of the French Government, with support from U-XG8887 - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), E-XE2442 - European Commission (EC) and E-XE4161 - UNEP.

Aims

Provide training for sustainable development and sound management of water resources respecting the environment; contribute to building up local capacity in the water and environment sector by developing ideas and sectoral strategies, especially with regard to development of human resources; within the European Union and the main developed countries, develop exchanges and services to improve water resources management, ecological quality of surroundings, waste water treatment and prevention of diffused pollution by a more integrated approach among users within EU; participate in joint efforts to support Central and Eastern European countries, Africa, Latin America, Mediterranean and developing countries.
