History

First Constitution adopted by General Assembly by 20 nations, 3 July 1948, Geneva (Switzerland); amended 6 Dec 1985, Delhi (India), 19-20 Sep 1993, Cairo (Egypt), 25-26 Nov 1998, Vienna (Austria) and 8 Dec 2006, at the Dead Sea (Jordan).

Aims

Represent families of the world at all levels; defend their interests; act with them and for them vis-à-vis governments and the international community; in cooperation with specialized agencies where necessary, promote policies for improvement of housing, health, sanitation, nutrition, education, recreation, work conditions, welfare systems, social protection and benefits, family relationships and environmental issues affecting families; in cooperation with members, experts and advisory groups, promote scientific studies concerning family structures, concepts and terminology.
