History
1988, as Consultative Committee on Caribbean Regional Information Systems (CCCRIS), following mandates, 1987, from Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community and U-XE3454 - Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee (CDCC). Integration with H-XF0805 - Caribbean Science and Technology Information Network (CARSTIN) under consideration. Current title adopted 1998. No activities reported since 2002.
Aims
Ensure that demands relating to sustainability and absorptive capacity of member countries are met by: evaluating and monitoring functioning of existing information systems; coordinating and advising on establishment of new systems; ensuring that systems are optimally utilized when established.

Committee (meeting annually), comprising representatives of F-XF4023 - Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), E-XE4175 - United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and D-XD4579 - Caribbean Community (CARICOM) (the chairmanship and secretariat rotating among these 3 but never both from the same institution), plus: F-XF7988 - University of the West Indies (UWI); national coordinating bodies of national information systems (2 representatives); national focal points of regional information systems (2 representatives); other concerned organizations (3 representatives).
