History
Dec 1902, Washington DC (USA), as International Sanitary Bureau -- Bureau sanitaire international, at 1st General International Convention of the American Republics. Current title adopted in 1923. On setting up of the Pan American Sanitary Organization -- Organisation sanitaire panaméricaine -- Organización Sanitaria Panamericana, 1947, PASB became Executive Organ of that body, which is currently E-XE3060 - Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and is one of 6 specialized organizations of D-XD3030 - OAS. At the same time, PASB is linked to the United Nations System in that it serves within B-XB3548 - WHO as WHO Regional Office for the Americas (AMRO) -- Bureau régional de l'OMS pour les Amériques -- Oficina Regional de la OMS para las Américas. PASB is therefore also known as Pan American Sanitary Bureau / WHO Regional Office for the Americas (PASB/AMRO).

Provide technical support and leadership to PAHO Member States as they pursue the goal of health for all and the values therein.
