History
18 May 1970, Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire), by a Convention signed by the Heads of State of D-XD0453 - Entente Council. Convention modified 30 Jan 1978, Lomé (Togo). Also referred to as: Cattle and Livestock Economic Community of the Entente Council; Cattle and Meat Economic Community of the Council of Entente States; Economic Community for Meat and Livestock; Livestock and Meat Community of the Entente Council; Economic Community for Livestock and Meat. Ceased to exist 2001.
Aims
Organize close cooperation among member States, and in neighbouring countries, in respect of problems connected with production, processing, marketing and commercialization of cattle, livestock and meat.

Council of Ministers, consisting of 2 ministers or their representatives from each member State, defines general policy and executive agreements on behalf of the Community. Executive Secretariat, administered by Executive Secretary, appointed by the Conference of Heads of State of the Entente Council. Sections (5): Administration and Finances; Productions and Animal Health; Information and Statistics; Studies and Projects; Trade and Transport.
