History
Established following the Stavanger declaration, and as a result of the establishment of the Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS) in 1992.
Aims
Act as a political network organization open to all subregions (regional authorities) around the Baltic Sea area, bringing added value to regional cooperation on every side of the Baltic Sea, so as to strengthen regional cooperation, using the BSSSC image as a political network and a regional partner to CBSS; promote and advocate the interests of the regions of the Baltic Sea area to decision makers, such as national governments, the EU and globally; provide expertise, best practice examples and implementation capacity.
