Jan 1984, at University of Hawaii, Honolulu HI (USA). By-laws adopted, 30 Jun 1987, during 8th Meeting, Seoul (Korea Rep); amended 8 Dec 1988, Jakarta (Indonesia), 9 Jul 1990, Singapore (Singapore), 24 May 1992, Okinawa (Japan), 13 Dec 1992, Perth (Australia), 21 May 1994, Beijing (China), 17 Dec 1997, Perth (Australia); most recent By-laws amended Mar 2000. Registered in accordance with Australian law, 2004. Relocated and registered in Honolulu HI (USA), 2010.
Aims
Improve quality of life and achieve the highest level of health for citizens in the region; raise the quality of professional education in public health and make it more relevant to current needs, with special emphasis on leadership; enhance knowledge, skills and effective methods available to health workers through joint research, training and service projects; devote greater resources to solving health problems by establishing closer links with each other and with Ministries of Health; improve the quality of educational opportunities for students of public health through curriculum development and academic sharing; make child survival a major priority.
