Founded at 2nd International Congress on Physical Education for Girls and Women, following resolution at 1st Congress, 1949, Copenhagen (Denmark). Constitution adopted 15 Jul 1957, London (UK). Revised constitution approved Aug 1993.

Aims

Bring together women of many countries working in the field of physical education and sport; strengthen international contacts; provide opportunities for discussion of mutual problems; promote exchange of persons and ideas among member countries and research into problems affecting physical education and sport for girls and women; cooperate with other organizations which encourage particular services of and to women in society; represent the interests of girls and women at all levels and in all areas of physical education and sport.
