Founded

1974

History

1974, under the title Caribbean Institute of Mass Communications, as a teaching department of the Faculty of Arts and General Studies of F-XF7988 - University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus. Later known as Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC). 2017, present name adopted.

Aims

Remain in the forefront of changes occurring in the field of communication as a result of technological convergence, the rise of new media and the blurring of boundaries between social, political and cultural spheres globally; demonstrate in theory and practice the unique role of media and communication in the continued evolution and enhancement of Pan-Caribbean culture; provide leadership in the educational, policy planning, research and professional development of media and communication in the wider Caribbean and its diaspora.
