Founded by B-XC1828 - International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), as a Special Interest Group replacing the former IFIP Technical Committee 4 'Information Processing in Health Care and Biomedical Research'. Statutes most recently updated, 12 Sep 2010, Cape Town (South Africa).
Aims
Promote informatics in health care and biomedical research; move theory into practice by linking academic and research informaticians with care givers, consultants, vendors and vendor-based researchers; promote cross fertilization of health informatics information across geographical and professional boundaries; serve as a catalyst for worldwide health information infrastructures for patient care and health research; monitor the range of special interest areas and focus support on new developments; minimize fragmentation between scientific and operational medical informaticians; harmonize competing organizations that emerge to address informatics issues; adapt to changes in the medical informatics marketplace and discipline.
