History

12 Nov 1964, Caracas (Venezuela), as Inter-American Union of Savings and Loan for Housing, pursuant to the resolution and agreement of 2nd Interamerican Savings and Loan Conference, 23 Jan 1964, Santiago (Chile). Previously also referred to in English as Inter-American Save and Loan for Housing Union. By-Laws modified and current name adopted, 9 May 1985, allowing enlargement of membership by incorporating financial institutions which, although not savings and loan associations, make a significant contribution to housing in their countries.

Aims

Promote and provide advice for the definition of instruments and mechanisms in the generation of public policies and best practices for development and sustainable housing finance, through studies, services, transfer of best practices and creating spaces for exchange between public and private actors in an inclusive way.
