History
1990, as an initiative of H-XD0665 - European Community, implemented by E-XE2442 - European Commission (EC). Original title 'INTERREG', replacing the previous U-XK0899 - REGEN (completion of trans-European energy networks). This was followed from 15 Jun 1994, by 'INTERREG II'. INTERREG III, covered 2000-2006, under guidelines approved by the Commission, 28 Apr 2000, as set out in Article 20 of Council Regulation (EC) No 1260/1999; INTERREG IV covered 2007-2013. Method of implementing cooperation activities set out in Communication of the Commission to Member States, 7 May 2001 'Interregional cooperation' Strand C; guidelines amended, 23 Aug 2001; present consolidated guidelines replace those decided on 28 Apr 2000. Current programme INTERREG V covers 2014-2020. Previously also known as European Territorial Cooperation (ETC).
