History

20 May 1976, Brussels (Belgium), as International Association of Environmental Coordinators (IAEC) -- Association internationale des coordonnateurs pour l'environnement. Subsequent title: International Professional Association for Environmental Affairs (IPRE) -- Association professionnelle internationale pour les affaires de l'environnement. Current title adopted 1993, following constitutional change. Registered in accordance with Belgian law. As of 2006 "ceased to exist".

Aims

Unite European practitioners in environmental affairs pursuing excellence and adhering to high ethical standards; provide them with a permanent forum to communicate their aims with a view to developing an integrated approach; survey, study, develop and promote cross-fertilization of all academic disciplines dealing with environmental protection and management aimed at sustainable development; represent environmental practitioners with international, particularly European Union, institutions and express professional and ethical views; define environmental issues and seek balanced and effective solutions compatible with environmental sustainability and economic viability; set and maintain a code of ethics and professional practice for members.
