Aims

Fight for self-determination of peoples, full economic independence as well as sovereignty of the State over its wealth and natural resources; struggle against imperialism, fascism, colonialism and the discrimination against women, indigenous people and national minorities; defend real peace based on the principle of peaceful co-existence between States of different social and economic systems; defend and promote human rights and the realization of better and more effective guarantees to their protection; condemn and denounce repressive legislation existing in American States; defend the legal profession and promote solidarity with persecuted jurists who support these principles.

Structure

General Assembly (every 3 years), each member country having one vote. Continental Council, consisting of Executive Committee and Vice-Presidents (whose number is determined by the Assembly) and by a representative of each branch of the Association. Executive Committee, comprising President, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Vice-Presidents, Secretary General and Assistant Secretary General (Finance). Permanent Secretariat.
