History
20 Aug 1962, Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), on signature of Convention by representatives of the Governments of Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Tanganyika (Tanzania UR) and Uganda, acting with the authority and consent of the Government of the United Kingdom. France became party signing the Convention on 9 Oct 1962, Ethiopia; Sudan became a full member in 1968, Eritrea in Jul 1993 and South Sudan in 2012. Agreement with B-XB0971 - FAO came into force Jun 1965. Convention amended Jun 1973, renewed every 5 years.
Aims
Promote control operations and forecast techniques against upsurges and plagues of the Desert Locust and other migratory pests such as the larvae of the African Armyworm moth, the Quelea Bird and the Tsetse fly.
