History
Founded 11 Mar 1992, Awka (Nigeria). Constitution adopted 25 Sep 1992. Registered in accordance with Nigerian law; also registered in the States of Iowa and South Carolina (USA).
Aims
Develop utilization of the biotechnology revolution in Africa by: training Africans in gene cloning and related sciences and biotechnologies, with particular attention to candidates from sub-Saharan Africa; developing improvisation in equipment use and laboratory procedures in genetic engineering and related fields so as to ameliorate endemic infrastructural problems and shortage of funds, and transmit these developments to trainees; providing equipment and materials for qualified trainees to adapt newly-acquired techniques, so as to improve life quality in their home environments; research into applications of genetic engineering and related fields of relevance to development of Africa, including the environment, and disseminating results of this research.
