History

Founded in succession to Inter-Allied Council for Sport -- Conseil des sports des forces alliées, set up 1945, Frankfurt-Main (Germany FR). Previous statutes approved by: 43rd General Assembly, 10-14 Apr 1988, Paramaribo (Suriname), and amended by 45th General Assembly, 4-10 May 1990, Lusaka (Zambia); 56th General Assembly, May 2001, Algiers (Algeria). Current statutes approved by 62nd General Assembly, 21-27 May 2007, Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).

Aims

Encourage military physical and sporting activities; develop friendly relations among armed forces and uniformed services of member countries; develop mutual technical assistance between member countries; contribute to progressive, balanced development of youth and to the worldwide effort for universal peace.
