History
Established by Resolution 4/61 of the Council of B-XB0971 - FAO, under Article VI(1) of the FAO Constitution. States amended by FAO Council at its 74th Session, Dec 1978, and by the 131st Session, Nov 2006.
Aims
Promote the effective conservation, management and development of living marine resources of the area of competence of the Commission, in accordance with the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries; address common problems of fisheries management and development faced by members.

Working Groups (4): Shrimp and Groundfish Fisheries in the Brazil-Guianas Shelf Large Marine Ecosystem; Caribbean Spiny Lobster; Queen Conch and Flying Fish; Anchored Fish Attracting Devices in the Lesser Antilles. Secretariat provided by FAO Subregional Office for the Caribbean (SLC).
