Founded when H-XH0265 - International Federation of Purchasing (IFP), set up 15 May 1965, New York NY (USA), in succession to H-XH0263 - International Committee of Purchasing, set up 1964, London, merged with H-XH0750 - European Federation of Purchasing (EFP), created 18 Oct 1958, Düsseldorf (Germany FR).

Aims

Further the principles and practice of purchasing and materials management as a basic and distinct function of the management structure of industry, trade and public undertaking; promote, encourage, undertake and coordinate study of problems affecting purchasing and materials management and further relevant solutions; ensure the highest standards of business ethics of those engaged in the profession; promote and encourage development of personal capabilities of all involved in purchasing and materials management activities; provide a recognized body through which purchasing and materials management can be represented in matters of international interest; encourage and assist development of national associations and national education schemes; assist in founding national associations in countries where such bodies do not as yet exist.
