Nov 1974, Mexico City (Mexico). Formally established in Jun 1975, Madrid (Spain). Current Statutes include modifications approved by: 7th Assembly, 1980, Guatemala (Guatemala); 10th Assembly, 1983, Caracas (Venezuela); 12th Assembly, Seville (Spain) 1985. Previously known under the acronym AICC.
Aims
Defend the rights of private enterprise and of national and international free trade between Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries, in particular between enterprises and businessmen; study matters of concern to economic activity and international trade, with special reference to the Ibero-American area; define ideas, studies, projects and initiatives that encourage growth and stability of private enterprise; promote meetings of chambers of commerce and related agencies and business meetings within the Ibero-American area; establish agreements strengthening friendship, cooperation and solidarity both among members and between AICO and international institutions and organizations; promote solution and settlement of conflicts and claims between businessmen by means of International Commercial Arbitration.
