History

1968, Tours (France), as Compagnonnages européens - Europäische Gesellenzünfte (CEG), two previous joint meetings having been held between 1951 and 1963. Present name and Statutes adopted at 7th Meeting, 21 May 1983, Brussels (Belgium). Registered in accordance with Dutch law.

Aims

Establish or strengthen ties between the various societies of 'companions' and their members, who remain companions once they have finished travelling, whatever their professional or social circumstances; promote the corporative and historical traditions of the 'companions'; promote contacts and understanding among young Europeans through occupational ties; facilitate exchanges of itinerant workers who are members of the federated societies.

General Assembly (annual). Committee, consisting of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, one representative from each member Society and one representative of itinerant companions. Executive Committee, comprising President, 1st and 2nd Vice-Presidents, 1st and 2nd Secretaries, 1st and 2nd Treasurers and 3 Editors. Europe Representative.
