New Statutes adopted at 8th Congress, 21-24 Nov 1974, Marrakech (Morocco); modified at: 10th Congress, 11-14 Jun 1981, Madrid (Spain); 13th Congress, May-Jun 1990, Porto (Portugal). Current Statutes adopted at 18th Congress, 2005, Paris (France). Rules of Procedure submitted by Secretary-General (Apr 1975) and accepted with modifications by Executive Committee: Apr 1975, Monaco; May 1978, Liège (Belgium); Jun 1981, Madrid; 1 Jun 1990, Porto (Portugal). Registered Office at the Red Cross Society in Monaco.
Aims
Promote worldwide the voluntary, non-remunerated giving of blood; actively promote the principle that blood is priceless, knows no frontiers and is the common possession of humanity; bring together national groups of blood donors in order to consider at the international level problems of common interest; examine matters of possible interest to blood donors and related to their organization, or to knowledge of medical progress in the area of blood transfusion, or of actual situations which might call for measures requiring services of blood donors.
