History
3 Sep 1938, Périgny (France), as a multinational group of Trotskyist organizations formed in opposition to H-XH3670 - Communist International (Comintern), also known as the Third International -- Troisième internationale. The idea had first been proposed in the late 1920's. Split in 1953 into two bodies: U-XF3935 - International Secretariat of the Fourth International - from which U-XF3882 - Revolutionary Marxist Tendency of the Fourth International further broke away - and E-XF2250 - International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI). U-XF3894 - Fourth International - International Centre for Reconstruction reconstructed the Fourth International, which it claimed to represent, as did the U-XF6456 - International Socialists, the Revolutionary Marxist Tendency of the Fourth International, and the U-XF3922 - Latin American Bureau of the Fourth International of the 4th International (International Centre for Reconstruction). U-XG5901 - International Marxist Group, set up 1956, was the British Section of the Fourth International.
