History
Established following conferences held in 1899, Washington DC (USA), and 1908 and 1912, St Petersburg (Russia). Activities commenced in Jun 1921. Current legal status adopted 22 Sep 1970, on entry into force of an intergovernmental convention whose official custodian is the Government of the Principality of Monaco. Statutes registered in 'UNTS 1/10764'.

Ensure that all the world's seas, oceans and navigable waters are surveyed and charted.
