Alleviate the immediate and substantial threat to political stability, democratic institutions and the economic growth and wellbeing of the peoples of the Americas by: reducing illicit drug production, supply, trafficking and use/abuse and its detrimental societal effects; controlling illicit trafficking in and use/abuse of legal drugs. Promote and strengthen inter-American cooperation to attack the complex transnational chain of operations that makes up illicit drug trafficking - including production, manufacture, distribution, marketing, use/abuse - and its effects, such as money laundering and arms trafficking.
