Founded

1978

History

Founded 1978, through 1980, Netherlands, as Committee of European Societies for Electron Microscopy (CESEM), and subsequently as Committee of European Societies for Microscopy (CESM), 1994. Previously sometimes also referred to as Committee of European Electron Microscopy Societies. Current title adopted 3 Sep 1998, when CESM was dissolved and its replacement by current society took place. Regional committee of: C-XC2009 - International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM).

Aims

Promote the use and quality of microscopy in all its aspects in Europe, with particular reference to developments in instrumentation and methodology and novel applications of all types of microscopy.
