History
Established under the auspices of the Government of France, as a technical statutory body of B-XB0971 - FAO, under Article XIV of its Constitution, under Convention approved by Conference of FAO, 19 Nov 1959; came into force 26 Sep 1961. Convention amended by 3rd Special Session of the Commission, 15 Nov 1977, and approved by the 19th Session of FAO Conference, 12 Nov-1 Dec 1977. Additional amendments adopted at 4th Special Session (2019) and approved at 41st Session (2019).

Promote cultivation, conservation and utilization of poplars and willows of the Salicaceae family.
