History
Founded at 3rd International Symposium on the Interactions Between Sediment and Fresh Water, when statutes were adopted, discussions having been held since 1st Symposium, Nov 1976, Amsterdam (Netherlands), and encouraged by B-XB1342 - International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS).
Aims
Promote, encourage and recognize excellence in scientific research related to sediments and their interaction with water and biota in fluvial, lacustrine and marine systems, with particular reference to environmental concerns; foster collaborative research among earth scientists, biologists, chemists and environmental engineers whose interests pertain to sediment-water interactions in all aquatic systems.
