The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Founded as a result of a proposal made at the biennial conference of H-XH5308 - East African Library Association (EALA), 1972. SCECSAL subsequently took over the activities of EALA.

Regulations revised 1976, Lusaka (Zambia), and adopted 2 Sep 1978, Nairobi (Kenya). Current constitution adopted, 23 Apr 2024.

Aims

Organize biennial conferences. 'Objectives': Promote and support development of libraries, i e: libraries, information services and documentation services; forge, maintain and strengthen professional links between librarians in member countries; discuss matters of mutual benefit and interest.
