History
6 May 1976, Maracaibo (Venezuela), by agreement between Government of Venezuela and D-XD3030 - OAS, a proposal to set up an inter-American body to deal with the regional planning and development having been made at 10th Inter-American Planning Congress, Sep 1974, Panama. Agreement renewed Jan 1982. Supported solely by the Government of Venezuela since 1997.
Aims
Contribute to improve the competence and development of planning institutions and the use of natural resources, the financing, management and promotion of regional and energy development; promote and facilitate the interchange of experiences, methods and other practices between institutions of regional development; carry out and promote education and research programs, applied to regional and energy development in Latin America and contribute to the development of these activities; support the interaction between operating institutions and education institutions concerning the methods, techniques and proceedings of planning and management of the regional and energy development; focus on the planning and regional development appropriate to the specific conditions of Latin America; promote the concept of planned regional development as a basic element for the socio-economic development of member countries.
