Constitution adopted 16 May 1966, Colombo (Sri Lanka); amended at: 3rd International Congress, 4 Dec 1981, Taipei (Taiwan); 4th International Congress, 8 Jan 1986, Bangkok (Thailand); 5th International Congress, 31 Oct 1989, Taipei; 6th International Congress, 8 Nov 1995; 7th International Congress, 12 Nov 2000.
Aims
Promote better relationships amongst the Sangha; promote Dhammaduta activities throughout the world, particularly in countries from which requests for such activities are made; promote cordiality of relationship between the laity and the Sangha; uphold the freedom and peace in the world through the Sangha.

General Council followed by General Assembly (every 4 years). Executive Committee (meets every 2 years), consisting of President, 2 (or more) Vice-Presidents, Secretary-General (English section), Secretary-General (Chinese section), Assistant Secretary-General (English section), Assistant Secretary-General (Chinese section), General Treasurer, Assistant General Treasurer and 11 Committee members in charge (as Directors) of the following activities: (1) Propagation of the Dhamma; (2) Education of the Sangha and laity; (3) Social affairs: (4) Healthy relationship between the Sangha and the laity; (5) Youth organizations; (6) Finance; (7) Culture; (8) Membership; (9) Rituals; (10) Liaison; (11) Bhikshuni.
