Founded by the national rural Catholic movements of seven nations. Recognized as an International Catholic Organization (OIC) by the Holy See: 1966; 1985. Statutes modified: 1974, Hübingen (Germany FR); 1980, Natoye (Belgium); 1992, Olinda (Brazil); 2 Nov 1996, Chennai (India); 18 Aug 2004, Paderborn (Germany); 2012, Sri Lanka.

Aims

Bring together Catholic and rural youth developmental organizations working on agricultural and rural youth development (economically, politically and socially) in accordance with the spirit of Christian fraternity and invite them to common action while respecting their autonomy; encourage new models of rural and agricultural development based on the Christian spirit; promote training and integrated education of rural youth; represent members' interests in public fora and various international institutions and organizations.
