History
13 Nov 1971, Brussels (Belgium), having been reconstituted in 1970, in conjunction with International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences, from an organization of the same title set up 1901. Previous statutes adopted 29 Nov 1980, Luxembourg; current statutes adopted 3 May 2000, Besançon (France). Registered in accordance with Swiss law.
Aims
Promote international cooperation and collaboration among interested bodies; create and maintain links among national associations and federations; support these organizations in their relations with official national bodies; represent genealogy and heraldry with international organizations.

General Assembly of members (annual, every other year at International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences), comprises 3 delegates for each federation and one delegate for each association.
