Promote non-proliferation and disarmament of all weapons of mass destruction - in particular nuclear weapons - and relevant delivery systems; extend and tighten existing arms control and non-proliferation regimes as well as devise and implement unconventional approaches to curb the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and control the transfer of related technology; promote critical analyses of technical, scientific and political issues associated with nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction; develop disarmament concepts; contribute scientific expertise to efforts aimed at transforming the inadequate arms control and non-proliferation regimes into a nuclear-weapon-free and eventually into a weapons-of-mass-destruction-free world; contribute to exploring alternatives to ballistic missile defence and weapons in space; combine research, networking and activities aimed at influencing national and international policies.
